University of Tennessee College of Dentistry - The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry is located in Memphis, Tennessee, near the intersection of Union Avenue and South Dunlap Street and is part of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The college has a four year program and has approximately 320 students.

Tennessee Technological University - Tennessee Technological University, popularly known as Tennessee Tech, is an accredited public university located in Cookeville, Tennessee, a small city approximately seventy miles east of Nashville. It was formerly known as Tennessee Polytechnic Instititute, and, before that as Dixie College, the name under which it was founded in 1916.

East Tennessee State University - East Tennessee State University is an accredited university operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents with its principal campus in Johnson City, Tennessee. It began as a normal school to educate teachers and was subsequently expanded into a college with a large range of liberal arts offerings, and developed into a full university in the 1960s.

Jackson State Community College - Jackson State Community College is a publicly-supported community college located in Jackson, Tennessee and operated under the auspices of the Tennessee Board of Regents. It is one of the largest commuity colleges in the Regents system and, along with the presence of the private Union University, Lambuth University, Lane College, and the location of Freed-Hardeman University in nearby Henderson gives Jackson the deserved reputation of being a "college town".

Today George Peabody College is a part of Vanderbilt University, as it has been since its merger in 1979. Its prior history was rich tennessee college and university and complex. The Peabody Normal College was the best in the South, and, as such, exerted an enormous influence on education in the region. A new era began in 1909. The trustees of the Peabody Fund, at its liquidation, provided an eventual $1.5 million to establish a graduate-level George Peabody College for Teachers. It opened for classes in 1914, on its present campus, where it quickly became the premier teachers' college in the South. As was the case with many private, independent institutions, Peabody faced intermittent financial struggles, which finally ended with its union with Vanderbilt. Today Peabody is, by almost any criteria, one of the five or six strongest colleges of education in the United States.
